Photographs are required of each thermal element to show continuity and quality of insulation in the following areas, plus other key components

  • Foundations / substructure / ground floor.

    1: At ground floor perimeter edge insulation

    2: At external door threshold

    3: Below damp proof course on external walls

  • External walls

    1: Ground floor to wall insulation

    2: Structural penetrations (such as lintels)

  • Roof.

    For each roof main type

    1: Joist rafter level

    2: Gable ends and eaves

  • Openings

    For each opening type (one image per wall or roof type is sufficient)

    1: Window positioning in relation to cavity closer or insulation line

    2: External door set postioning in relation to cavity closer or insulation line

  • Airtightness

    Additional photos required to show details of airtightness work if not shown in continuity of insulation photos.

    This could include mastic sealing of internal or external penetrations

  • Building services

    For all plant associated with space heating, hot water, ventilation and low or zero carbon technologies within in or on the building to show the following

    1: Plant/Equipment indntification label(s)including make/model and serial number

    2: Primary pipework continuity of insulation

    3: Mechanical ventilation ductwork continuity of insulation (for duct sections outside of thermal envelope)

Taking the right photographs the right way shouldn't be challenging or time consuming.
